So if I leave a book on my front step, I guess I’m guilty of copyright infringement. I hope there is a special level of hell for the RIAA and MPAA. Leave people alone – leave college students alone. Stop fighting a losing battle and develop new models for promotion and distribution.

1. This guy and his band suck anyway, so I wouldn’t even steal his music
2. He’s pissed off what few fans he has left – see Metallica

He just doesn’t get it.  The old model is dead. Give away music, make money touring. New bands are getting more exposure making their stuff available for free. Old bands are making more money than they did before by cutting out the record industry. I’m not buying albums anymore unless I can hear the entire thing multiple times. Not myspace or iTunes samples – the whole thing. I own over 1000 CDs. But yes, I “steal” music too – from friends, from the library, and (ahem) maybe even the internet sometimes. If I like it, I buy it. If I don’t, I delete it.

That’s the new model. Simmons should learn from the disaster of Metallica (which suck now anyway, but I would never buy another album from them even if they didn’t) and not piss off what few fans he has left.

Milestone for Matt

Churchville-Chili, Greece Arcadia reach Class AA baseball final | democratandchronicle.com | Democrat and Chronicle

He got his name in the local paper (the big one, not the community paper, where he’s been mentioned a couple of times).  Got called up to varsity a couple of weeks ago and doing well, helping Odyssey make the sectional championship game. Had a bases-loaded double in yesterday’s semifinal win.
